How to remove the steering wheel on a 1996 Club Car golf cart. ?

I have removed the cover, and unscrewed the bolt, but the wheel is pressed into the shaft, like a car’s steering wheel I tried to use an auto. steering wheel puller,however: because it is plastic there is no place to screw the bolts to the steering wheel. Is there another way?
